I find myself in a weird position. I get driven by color and by the curiosity that painting generates on me I do not know why but i have to keep painting colors. However I often feel guilty of searching on color knowing the current status of geopolitics.
Amphitheater name comes from the roman round buildings. Constructed with the ideal of representing theatral representations also were used for brutalistic performances. This duality of the amphitheater is exactly how i feel with these series. In a weird egocentrism i feel like i must continue searching for what propulses my creativity but in the other hand it feels incredibly weird to see these constructions of beautiful colors in a time liek today.
Makes me think and wonder on ethics and actions. Hope it does this effect on you as well.
Gerard Almirall
"In our increasingly industrialized world, a space where you can live with inner peace is difficult to find. The need to move further and further away from neuralgic centers and pavement ecosystems becomes the oniric work.
In the oniric work the landscape becomes space and the figures become essences. Thus causing the transformation of the romantic landscape into a reimagined topography. In this type of composition, the observer's imagination is able to complete the chaos that the disordered brushstrokes and glazes initially create. In this way, a dialogue is generated between the observer's imagination and the artist's intention."
The viewer is invited to feel and escape the noise. Generate shapes, figures and stories. An invitation to the therapeutic fable and to cloud rationality.
