"'Amphitheater I' is called after the roman theaters, used commonly for watching gladiator fights, naumachias as well as circus. This concept of being a spectator to a war field representation summons up the distress of our actual geopolitical situation. This is a continuation of my first abstracted abstracted sky 'Platea'.

Being a spectator to a enclosed landscape is not something uncommon. Color and composition are a result of the automatism of the construction of this image. So instead of depicting a war I depicted the space to escape it. The inverse amphitheater; everything outside of it is the theater and the interior of the image creates the space that is needed to not sufffocate under such preassure."

Gerard Almirall

Gerard Almirall is a catalan artist based in Bonn. He studies Fine Arts in Alanus Hochschule and in the University of Barcelona.

"In our increasingly industrialized world, a space where you can live with inner peace is difficult to find. The need to move further and further away from neuralgic centers and pavement ecosystems becomes the oniric work.

In the oniric work the landscape becomes space and the figures become essences. Thus causing the transformation of the romantic landscape into a reimagined topography. In this type of composition, the observer's imagination is able to complete the chaos that the disordered brushstrokes and glazes initially create. In this way, a dialogue is generated between the observer's imagination and the artist's intention."

The viewer is invited to feel and escape the noise. Generate shapes, figures and stories. An invitation to the therapeutic fable and to cloud rationality.
