Gleichzeitig greift das Werk kulturelle Symboliken auf – von ägyptischen Göttern mit Tierköpfen über Playboy- und Casino-Bunnies bis hin zu popkulturellen Nekomimis.
Der Hasenkopf, kombiniert mit einem weiblichen menschlichen Körper, soll den Betrachter gleichermaßen anziehen und irritieren. Zudem stellt er augenzwinkernd die Frage: „Would you prefer a mermaid that's fish on top and human on bottom, or human on top and fish on bottom?“
Das Werk lässt sich auf zwei Arten lesen: Zum einen als Auseinandersetzung mit Fragen zu Ethik, Wissenschaft und Verlockungen, die den Betrachter tief in das Rabbithole führen, zum anderen als humorvoller Kommentar, der zum Lachen einlädt, ohne sich selbst allzu ernst zu nehmen.
Die Wahl von Öl als Medium und einer Leinwand mit Hasenleim als Malgrund betont nicht nur die künstlerische Tradition, sondern verleiht dem Werk auch eine makabre Symbolik, die den Themenkreis des Hasen schließt.

This work explores the intersections of science, mythology, aesthetics, and humor. The initial inspiration came from historical experiments in which severed dog heads were kept alive or two-headed dogs were created through transplantation, as well as the biological dimension of transhumanism. At the same time, the work draws on cultural symbolism – from Egyptian gods with animal heads to Playboy and Casino Bunnies, and even pop-cultural Nekomimis.
The rabbit head, combined with a female human body, is designed to both attract and unsettle the viewer. It also playfully poses the question: “Would you prefer a mermaid that's fish on top and human on bottom, or human on top and fish on bottom?” The work can be interpreted in two ways: on one hand, as an exploration of questions about ethics, science, and temptations, leading the viewer deep into the metaphorical rabbit hole; on the other, as a humorous commentary that invites laughter without taking itself too seriously.
The choice of oil as a medium and a canvas primed with rabbit glue emphasizes not only artistic tradition but also adds a macabre symbolism that subtly completes the thematic focus on the rabbit.
